Manchester Downtown Enhancement in conjunction with the MDOT M-52 Project

The Michigan Department of Transportation M-52 project through the Village starts March 26, 2012 and continues through November. The schedule for the Downtown Enhancement portion of this project is not yet finalized. Pictorial design graphics, engineering drawings, and specifications are shown in the following links:
The historical concept for the Downtown Enhancement design is based on a 1930's Manchester streetscape, when the current bridge, paved streets, automobile traffic, and electric streetlighting were all present.
Funding for the Downtown Enhancement is largely from the Federal Tranportation Enhancement program, supplemented by MDOT and local funding.

Shared-Use Walking and Bicycle Trail

A combined use Walking and Bicycling Trail through the Village along the old Michigan Central Railroad right-of-way is currently being investigated. The concept was presented to the Village Council in December. Design, funding, and approvals are currently being pursued.
